Salma Hayek cared for Linda Evangelista during her second cancer treatment.
The 58-year-old supermodel was shocked to learn she was diagnosed with a pectoral muscle disorder in July 2022, four years after a double mastectomy, and when she told the Eternals actress, who is married to Francois-Henri Pinault, about it. , father of Linda’s 17-year-old son Augustin – she didn’t have the energy to celebrate the holidays because she was “half dead” from chemotherapy, the 57-year-old beauty didn’t hesitate to hop on a plane and cook for her friend.
Linda told Sunday’s The Sun: “Salma called and I said, ‘We’re not doing Thanksgiving this year.’ I was half dead. I could not. There’s no way I can do this. And she said, “Yes, it’s you. I will be there’.
“I said, ‘Please, please don’t. Please do not”. And she said, “No, no, no, this is important,” and poof, she was there.
“She was cooking. I said, “I want your Mexican chicken,” and she threw the whole party herself. I don’t know how she managed my kitchen so quickly. She did a great job.”
Linda, who has privately battled lung problems throughout her career, was first diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram and initially thought she was “ready for life” by having a double mastectomy.
She said: “I had a lumpectomy but the biopsy margins weren’t very good.
“Because of the lung problems and the radiation, I said, ‘I’m going to be so radical.’
“Because I didn’t want breast cancer to kill me and I thought I’d take care of it.
“I was happy with my decision and thought I was ready for life. I wasn’t going to die from breast cancer.”
But Linda discovered another lump last year when she received a call that Augustine had gone missing on a school trip and she tried to ease her racing heartbeat by rubbing her chest.
She recalled: “My heart was racing and I was rubbing my chest, saying, ‘Calm down, calm down.’
“That’s when I felt a lump. It was a lump and I wasn’t sure, so I insist on it.
“I was like, ‘Is this where I had my rib removed?’ I had a rib removed during one of my many, many, many lung surgeries.”
After further tests, Linda was told she had cancer again.
She added: “They said, ‘You have cancer again. And this is muscle cancer.” I have never heard about that”.
Looking to the future, the Canadian star has only one ambition.
She said, “I hope I get really old.”
