Scottie Lavon Jordan

Scottie Lavon Jordan, 45, of Laurel, died November 7, 2023, at South Central Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gulfport on October 18, 1978, to James Jordan and Kay Jordan. He is a dedicated, hard-working man who has spent a large part of his life in the oilfield, contributing his skills and expertise to this vital industry. His love for the oilfield is reflected in his commitment and determination. Outside of work, Scotty’s passions include gaming, motorcycles, sports cars, and deep-sea fishing. He also has a deep affection for cats, especially his current pets Milo and Jack and his late pet Inzi. But perhaps Scottie best embodied his unwavering love for his family and friends. I shared countless moments of laughter, friendship, and meaningful connection with the people he cherished.

Scotty is survived by his wife, Karla Danielle Rutland Jordan; Jonathan Michael Jordan of Hattiesburg; daughter, Krista Jade Murphy (wife of Donnie Murphy of Laurel) and Eliza Josephine Worley (other half of Devin Creel of Franklinton, LA); soon-to-be granddaughter Mariana Nee Mariahna Nicole Creel and Adalynn Suzette Murphy; his loving mother Kay Jordan; four half-siblings, Somerville, Tenn. Kenneth Jordan, Mitchell Jordan of Leavenworth, WA, Michael Jordan of Laurel, and Angela Anderson of Ogden, Utah; special nephew Christopher Hutchinson (Susan) of Ogden ; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Scotty was preceded in death by his father, James L. Jordan; His paternal grandfather, Lamar Jordan; paternal grandmother, Myrtle Jordan Cooley; maternal grandfather, Ernest Nicholson; and maternal grandmother, Daisy Nicholson.

A memorial service was held Sunday at Laurel’s Chapel of Memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to AFSP or an animal charity of your choice.
