Simona Halep’s four-year ban has raised eyebrows across the tennis world, although some have expressed support for the former world number one, Serena Williams and Eugenie Bouchard added some sarcasm to their comments.
Williams was the first to speak out on the matter, posting a message on Twitter that read: “Eight is a better number”, which refers to Serena and Halep’s participation in the 2019 Wimbledon final. The Romanian won, preventing the American from winning her eighth title at the cathedral of tennis. The publication triggered a series of comments from users of the social network “X” and doubts about whether Halep had taken banned drugs that year.

Subsequently, Bouchard was not far behind and made the above comments through the same platform. “They told me not to tweet today“who was linked to the controversy surrounding her wins over Maria Sharapova and Dayana Yastremska in Madrid, said beating doping players in the Spanish capital was special.
I was told not to tweet today 🫢
