Last night, Hollywood’s most stylish stars attended the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City. The Council of Fashion Designers of America is an annual event that celebrates the top talent in the industry, and this year’s ceremony (hosted by Anne Hathaway, FYI) was no exception.
One of the winners was Serena Williams, who received the Fashion Icon Award for her work as a designer. Sparkling from head to toe, the former tennis pro proved she was a worthy winner.
Her custom Thom Browne design featured a plunging sweetheart neckline, a draped fitted skirt, a maxi train, and was completely covered in black sequins. As if she wasn’t twinkling under all the twinkling lights enough, Serena also added a “huge” statement necklace held together by a diamond-encrusted leaf pattern and paired it with diamond and pearl earrings.
The finishing touch to her look were two XL puffy sleeves, punctuated by clusters of beads. This accessory harkens back to childhood swimming lessons, the branch-like arms of our teenage years pushing past giant inflatables.But Serena’s armband is obvious Many Chic.
