“I’ve always thought of it as a transition, but I want to be sensitive to how I use the word, which means something very specific and important to people. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m doing is evolution. I’m here to tell you that I’m moving on from tennis to other things that are important to me,” she explained at the time.
