Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian shocked by Artsakh flag trampled during Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict

Alexis Ohanian, husband of Serena Williams and co-founder of Reddit, was deeply disturbed after witnessing the flag of the Republic of Artsakh being trampled on during the ongoing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The Republic of Artsakh, also known as the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, is a disputed region. Although it is recognized internationally as part of Azerbaijan, its main inhabitants are Armenians.

Tens of thousands of Armenians have fled the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh since it surrendered to Azerbaijan on September 20. The conflict has evolved into an issue involving civil rights, human rights and a variety of other issues.

Across the globe, ethnic Armenians ardently advocate for the protection of their ancestral lands, which are increasingly being encroached upon by Azerbaijan.

Alexis Ohanian, whose father, Chris, has Armenian ancestry on his side, recently took to social media to express his deep feelings after witnessing someone disrespecting and trampling on the flag of the Republic of Artsakh. Frustrated.

Ohanyan fears that Azerbaijan may continue its aggressive expansion into Armenian territory in the coming months if the international community does not stand up against this injustice and provide assistance to Armenians during this challenging period.

“They don’t even want to be diplomatic about this. Watch as Azerbaijan continues to conquer more Armenian lands in the coming months. When will the world fight back?” Ohanian posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Alexis Ohanian’s family suffered greatly at the hands of Turkish soldiers during the tragic Armenian Genocide in 1915. Countless families like Ohanian suffered brutal treatment during this dark period in history.

Unfortunately, several members of the Ohanian family were tortured and died as a result. In addition, their prized possessions, including three valuable antique rugs, which were family heirlooms and held great sentimental value, were also forcibly seized.

Previously, in an interview Forbes, Ohanian discussed his efforts to regain connection with his roots. He revealed that he had acquired the rugs and proudly displayed them at his farmhouse in Jupiter, Florida.

The tech entrepreneur said he hopes his daughter Olympia will inherit the carpet and preserve the family legacy for future generations.

“These rugs are for Olympia. Who knows we might have other kids. God, this is not a country I plan to escape from. But I know not everyone has that opportunity,” Alexis Ohanian said .

Ohanian, a non-fungible token (NFT) enthusiast and self-described “crypto pragmatist,” has an interesting plan to leave a digital asset legacy for his daughters.
