On Monday night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) presented its annual Fashion Awards at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

It’s one of the biggest events of the year for industry insiders and creatives alike, as the awards show aims to promote American designers on a global stage.

New York designer Willy Chavarria, known for his Chicano-style oversized trousers and collared shirts, won the prestigious Menswear Designer of the Year award, while Catherine Holstein is the founder of minimalist label Khaite, known for its sexiness. -Exquisite knitwear – won corresponding awards for women’s wear.

Event dress codes tend to favor elegance over luxury. For example, a tailored black suit worn by former J. Crew president and current “Real Housewives of New York” cast member Jenna Lyons was considered classic rather than forgettable. Although several A-listers including fashion pioneers Gwyneth Paltrow, Chloe Sevigny and Demi Moore were in attendance to steal the show.

Anne Hathaway’s floral-print double denim suit from the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2024 collection is one of the most eye-catching red carpet looks.

Ralph Lauren himself is a long-term member of the CFDA, having received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991 and the CFDA Fashion Legend Trophy in 2007.

Serena Williams became the first athlete to be honored as a CFDA Fashion Icon, and she also chose an All-American designer.

Williams arrived at the Natural History Museum wearing a black sequined gown with sculptural puff sleeves and a dramatic train designed by current CFDA president Thom Browne.

Elsewhere, Vanessa Hudgens stepped out in a classic black Vera Wang princess gown with a heart-shaped bodice and leather elbow gloves. This is the second time Hudgens has worn Wang to the CFDA Awards, having attracted attention with her lingerie-style look last year.

This year, Hudgens paid tribute to the famous designer in recognition of her impact on bridal fashion. Featuring Wang’s favorite timeless structured bust and draped loose skirt, this elegant gown could be the perfect wedding dress for the bride who boldly goes gothic, making it the perfect look for the moment .

Kim Kardashian and Law Roach, meanwhile, stood out, choosing to amplify the smaller American designer’s style with two equally eye-catching looks.

Kardashian’s black leather fitted halterneck gown, made by Los Angeles brand Chrome Hearts, was decidedly understated compared to the Barbie pink Balenciaga dress she wore to the LACMA Gala earlier this week. Roach arrived wearing a deconstructed business suit from popular Brooklyn brand Luar. On his lower body, stylist’s white briefs replaced pants.
