Shape Of Brew: Ed Sheeran got drunk while celebrating album release in New York

Ed Sheeran told New Yorkers he had drinks with him as he made his way through the Big Apple on a long bar crawl to celebrate the release of his new album, “Autumn Variations,” which came out Friday.

The “Eyes Closed” singer outlined his plans to hit random bars and get the next round on strangers within six hours in a video posted to social media on Friday.

“Let’s go,” Sheeran shouted before the video showed him chatting with bar patrons, clinking other drinks and taking photos with employees at the Stout NYC restaurant.

“We’re at the first bar, I’m having my first drink. I brought everyone a drink at the bar, but we’re not there yet, we’re not there yet,” he said in the clip.

Sheeran then headed to the subway before having more drinks, playing beer pong with fans and taking photos with people at another bar.

He later headed to Off the Wagon in New York City’s Greenwich Village, where he was greeted with encouraging chants before handing out more shots.

“Okay, we’re done for the night, we started on the spot, they didn’t feel it. Next place? We didn’t feel it either,” Sheeran said.

“We got on the subway and here we are. I’m very drunk right now. Very drunk.”

The celebratory video comes following the release of Sheeran’s new album, whose record was produced almost entirely by the National’s Aaron Dessner.

The singer’s bar crawls add to his list of surprise appearances in recent months to promote his music and concerts.

This includes working shifts at the Lego Store at the Mall of America, serving hot dogs at an iconic Chicago restaurant and stopping by a youth concert in Boston to perform his music with a group of kids.
