Shawn Levy on ‘Stranger Things’ Cast’s Dealing with Aging Problems

Here is a force of nature that even Vecna himself cannot stop: Stranger Things the cast ages much faster than their on-screen counterparts.

This problem isn’t new to Netflix’s popular sci-fi horror series, or to any series or movie that centers on a group of kids. But with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike halting production and causing delays, this may be an even bigger problem than usual, but series executive producer and director Shawn Levy apparently isn’t too much I’m worried about this.

In an interview with DiversityLevy said, “We’ve already watched the cast of our show mature in the public eye, and between the ages of 12 and 22, each individual changes profoundly.” He admitted that “this period of time definitely doesn’t help,” but “that being said, our hair, makeup and wardrobe department is pretty exceptional, using costumes, wigs and makeup.”

He continued: “The ’80s are also our friends in bringing these young adult actors back to their iconic Hawkins characters. So we’re going to use all the tools available to us. And I know our cast is just as eager to get back to work. like all of us.”

This cast includes not-so-young stars Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin, all of whom have grown up on screen as the show has progressed. Once the strike is resolved, they will all return to work on the fifth and final season.

Wolfhard previously told EW that he had mixed feelings about the series finale. On the one hand, he says, “I’m definitely glad to finish Stranger Things and let’s see what happens next.” On the other hand: “I tried not to think about it and not realize how sad it would be, obviously, but it would be kind of a graduation for all of us, for the actors and for the actors. and a lot of the team members did too,” Wolfhard said.

Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Winona Ryder, David Harbor and many more round out the cast Stranger Thingswhich will conclude with an eight-episode final season at an undisclosed time.
