Netflix has published the first footage of the 6-episode mini-series “Griselda”. Vergara also co-creates and executive produces with Eric Newman (Narcos) and director Andres Buys. The series will debut in January 2024 on Netflix.
It is inspired by the life of the shrewd and ambitious Colombian businesswoman Griselda Blanco, a loving mother who created one of the most profitable drug cartels in history. Possessing a lethal combination of unsuspecting ferocity and charm, Blanco managed to keep her business and family in her hands, earning her the nickname “Godmother”. came to America and built an empire, Sophia shares the personal aspect of this character, and her passion to tell her story was undoubtedly the driving force behind this project. What will really surprise audiences is how she manages to bring this complete darkness to a performance that is far removed from the comedy she is loved and known for. Finding the right path to play this role has been her biggest challenge on this show, and seeing the successful transformation has been a privilege.” Director and executive producer Andres Baiz adds: “When we meet Griselda, she is a woman crushed by the male-dominated world around her.
