LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant have all expressed interest in playing in next summer’s Paris Olympics, but Golden State Warriors and Team USA head coach Steve Kerr said the roster has not yet been finalized .
“That conversation is going to be over the next couple of months,” Kerr told The Athletic’s Joe Walden. “We want to finalize the roster as soon as possible. We don’t have a specific date, but, you know, obviously, we don’t want to put players in a bind.
“You want everyone to be excited about the prospect of (playing for Team USA); it’s the first sign that, hey, we’re taking this very seriously. A lot of people are eager to play. Obviously, Grant has to take the lead on formulating In terms of our strategy, we haven’t made any decisions yet. Kerr led a group of young players to a disappointing fourth-place finish at this summer’s FIBA World Cup. It’s likely that Cole will lead a star-studded event in Paris, with this Olympics set to be FIBA’s last hurray for a generation of players.
