Sydney Sweeney admires Glen Powell after dating rumors

Glen Powell received several birthday wishes from friends over the weekend, including one from his Anybody But You co-star Sydney Sweeney.

“Happy birthday to my fellow camp counselor, adventurer and goofball extraordinaire,” the 26-year-old Euphoria star wrote on her Instagram Story on Saturday.

Powell, who celebrated his 35th birthday, shared a photo of the couple that appears to have been taken on set while filming the rom-com. The duo donned sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats for the fun snap.

Earlier this year, Sweeney and the Top Gun: Maverick actor made headlines when their coziness on social media led fans to speculate that they might be having an affair. Sweeney was seen multiple times without her engagement ring from fiancé Jonathan Davino, and Powell and girlfriend Gigi Paris broke up during filming.

“Gigi and Glen have broken up several times,” a source told People in April. “They’ve been stuck since Top Gun came out. Gigi never liked long-distance filming, and when she came to Australia (where Powell was filming Anyone But You), they both decided to split up for good.”

Moreover, Paris unfollowed Sweeney on Instagram.

“Gigi only unfollowed Sydney on social media because Sydney never followed her back. It had nothing to do with Glen and Sydney. Gigi knows Glen and Sydney have never met,” the source added. “He takes his job very seriously and it’s been hard on the relationship.”

“They’re making a movie—a romantic comedy!” noted the second insider. It’s like when people talk about movie stars: “Oh, they have such good chemistry.” It’s just their job. They are friends who met on the set. They are colleagues.”

Sweeney herself defended their friendship and finally addressed the cheating allegations in an interview with Variety published in August.

“Sometimes I feel beaten about it. It’s hard to sit back and watch without being able to stand up for yourself,” she told the publication.

“Glen and I don’t really care about it,” she continued. “We have so much fun together and we have a lot of respect for each other; He’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”

She said of the headlines about the alleged affair: “We keep saying, ‘This is really funny.’

In May, Sweeney wore an engagement ring for the first time in almost a year when she was photographed leaving the luxury Martinez Hotel on the French Riviera with her longtime love.
