Sylvester Stallone he took a liking to it: after making his debut in recent months in his first television series, Tulsa Kingis now ready to return to the small screen, but this time without the actor’s mask. In the episodes of the series, produced by MTV Entertainment Studioswe will see Sylvester Stallone match his public commitments with his personal relationships, in particular those with daughters who, having grown up in the decidedly cumbersome shadow of such a father, have carved out their own personality and their own professional identity over time. But the funniest thing is certainly seeing the actor all muscles and grunts devoting himself to trivial tasks, such as brushing the family cat. But of course the Stallones aren’t the first Hollywood family to willingly let the cameras invade their privacy: over the years this kind of reality TV has become a genre that we somehow can’t do without.

The Osbournes

The progenitors of the trend of famous families on TV were probably the Osbournes: the legendary heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne and his wife and manager Sharontogether with their children Jack and Kellyagreed in 2002 to participate in a truly cutting-edge MTV reality show for the times (athe couple’s other daughter, Aimee, refused to appear and was deleted from all family photos). The cameras followed the four in their every daily moment, including furious quarrels, moments of confusion and so many. There were too quite dramatic times, such as Sharon’s cancer or an off-road vehicle accident that put Ozzy’s life in danger. Despite the criticisms and various controversial moments, The Osbournes made TV historywhich is remarkable for a program in which one of the protagonists, Ozzy in fact, always spoke in an incomprehensible way.

Hogan Knows Best

The Osbournes walked so that many after them could run. It is the case of Hulk Hogan, one of the most famous wrestlers in history and certainly the bearer of the most memorable peroxide mustache in the world. Starting from 2005 he was the protagonist together with his family of the reality show Hogan Knows Bestkind of an exaggerated account of their relationship dynamics, especially with the Hulk portrayed as a overprotective father and above all willing to get his children’s careers off the ground. After four seasons, daughter Brooke earned a spin-off, Brooke Knows Best, which lasted for another two years. Meanwhile in really real life things were not going so brilliantlywith the arrest of his son Nick, the divorce between the Hulk and his wife Linda and the failure of Brooke’s engagement.

House of Carters

Just after the success of the Osbourne show, the end of the 1910s saw a swarm of programs dedicated to women various celebrities and their families. The aftermath of those shows and in general of a celebrity cultures so exasperated like that of those years today have led to decidedly bittersweet results. Among these, the most striking case is that of House of Carters, dedicated to Backstreet Boy member Nick Carter and to his brother Aaron and sisters BJ, Aaron, Leslie and Angel. The show only lasted eight episodes and wasn’t a huge success, yet it’s sobering how that same family imploded: Aaron was found dead in November 2022 after several years of battling drug addiction and publicly accusing several members of her family of pretty serious abuse; recently even Nick Carter is not doing well, having been in the last few days accused of sexual assault about a singer that happened in 2003.

The Kardashians

At first it was Keeping Up With the Kardashians (in Italian Keeping up with the Kardashians): born from an idea of momager Kris Jenner and conductor Ryan Seacrest, in 2007 the cameras enter the private life of Kim Kardashian, at the time at the height of her being famous for being famous. Sisters with her Khloe and Kourtney and the stepsisters Kylie and Kendall Jennerbut also a plethora of assistants, friends, lovers, boyfriends, husbands and ex-partners, in a whirlwind of situationsi between the superficial and the grotesque. Thanks to the twenty seasons, the program has redefined the canons of reality TV, updating it and merging it with the world of social media and paving the way for several rivals. Concluded in 2021, Keep Up he was reborn from his ashes on the show The Kardashianswhose third season premieres in May on Disney+.

The Ferragnez

However, Italy too finally has its Osbournes or its Kardashians, take your pick: they obviously are The Ferragnez. The only royal couple in Italy today, that is Chiara Ferragni and Fedezhave followed the model of top celebrities by being chased by the cameras themselves: in a reality show they prefer moments of tenderness and work commitments scandals and quarrels, the two showed the world their very busy schedules, their group trips and commitments such as Sanremo or the launch of new fashion collections. There will be no torments to which American shows have accustomed us, but it is already something. It will be to understand what will happen with the second seasonwhose filming was interrupted immediately after Sanremo 2023 and the couple’s alleged (but then repeatedly denied) problems.
