The engines are gearing up for the MTV Video Music Awards, which are scheduled to take place on September 12th. The show focuses on the work of artists whose cultural influence has changed the music industry over the past twelve months. And who has done it more than Taylor Swift? It is no coincidence that the pop star leads the nominations with eight nominations. There are many women on the shortlist: SZA has 6 nominations, while Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo have 5 nominations each. Instead, there are four nominations for BLACKPINK and Shakira. But this edition also boasts a record number of first-time VMA nominations (35 in total), with several newcomer nominations.
