Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and LeBron James share heartfelt moment ahead of Lakers vs. Rockets

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was crazy this weekend against the Buccaneers, LeBron James took notice and the two finally met

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud had a historic game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Stroud finished with a whopping 470 passing yards and five touchdowns in the victory. As a result, Stroud set an NFL record for the most passing yards by a rookie in a single game. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James took notice of Stroud’s performance and praised the Texans quarterback on social media.

Days later, LeBron personally congratulated Stroud and shared a heartfelt moment before James’ Lakers took on the Houston Rockets:

CJ Stroud was selected with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. The 22-year-old was a two-time Heisman finalist and led the Buckeyes to the Peach Bowl in his final year with the Buckeyes. Stroud had an impressive NFL debut in the 2023-24 season, completing 62% of his passes for 14 touchdowns and just one interception on 279 attempts. It all adds up to a quarterback rating of 102.9, which ranks fourth in the NFL behind Tua Tagovailoa, Brock Purdy and the injured Kirk Cousins.

The Texans’ win over the Buccaneers allowed them to tie the game. Houston is currently 4-4 and ranked second in the AFC South. The Jacksonville Jaguars currently lead the division with a 6-2 record.

Next up, Stroud and the Texans will prepare to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10 of the AFC Conference. In the meantime, it’s nice to see Stroud get recognition from LeBron in person — and not just through social media.
