It’s been a crazy year so far in the NBA, and this past Thanksgiving holiday week was no exception. For sneakerheads, this holiday marks an opportunity for players to bring a special pair of sneakers to nationally televised games. Check out our sneaker news for more upcoming releases and great content!

Things have been heating up in the NBA this past week as the in-season tournament continues and teams finally begin their schedules. Let’s take a look at some of the best sneakers to hit during Thanksgiving.

Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 16 “Wanda” vs. Warriors

The Phoenix Suns take on the Golden State Warriors in a crucial Western Conference matchup on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Kevin Durant decided to honor his mother by lacing up his Nike KD 16 “Wanda” shoes. The bright emerald green colorway is clearly visible on the court, making it the perfect shoe for KD to be thankful for this holiday season. He scored 32 points and 8 rebounds to help the Suns win 123-115 at home. Get a closer look at the Nike KD 16 “Wanda”.

LeBron James’ UNKNWN x Nike LeBron 21 vs. Jazz

The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, with a chance to lock down a spot in the NBA in-season tournament. The Lakers won 131-99 and advanced to the next round with a perfect 4-0 record in the group stage. LeBron James scored 17 points and became the first player in NBA history to reach 39,000 career points.

James has also teamed up with UNKNWN, the Miami-based streetwear brand he co-founded, on the upcoming Nike LeBron 21. The shoes come in a beautiful brown suede with tropical pink accents. While these are still a Friends & Family exclusive, LeBron rocking them could be a sign that a second collaborative release could be coming soon. Check out the first UNKNWN x Nike LeBron 21 collaboration.

Klay Thompson’s Anta KT9 “Rocco” vs. Tottenham Hotspur

The Golden State Warriors take on the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, November 24, 2023, as the two teams compete for a spot in the NBA in-season championship. The Warriors narrowly defeated the Spurs 118-112, keeping their tournament hopes alive while also defeating the Spurs. Klay Thompson scored 15 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists.

Thompson had a lot to be grateful for, but perhaps nothing meant more to him than his English bulldog, Sir Rocco von Thompson (“Rocco” for short). Since becoming ANTA’s iconic athlete, Thompson has paid tribute to his dog with special colorways of his Anta KT sneaker line. This latest version is molded in KT9 and features personalized Bulldog etching throughout the upper. Rocco’s face, name and some of his favorite things are featured throughout this heartfelt tribute to his best friend.

The ANTA logo is located on the front of the sneaker, which is made of thick carpet-like material and has a light blue underlay. Thompson’s personal nickname appears on the heel, and the shoe is accented in Safety Orange. Of all the shoes worn during the NBA Thanksgiving, this pair has to be the most innovative.

Domantas Sabonis’s Nike Kobe 6 “McFly” vs. Pelicans

On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, the Sacramento Kings lost to the New Orleans Pelicans. In the 112-117 loss, Domantas Sabonis had 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists. More importantly, however, was his never-before-seen Marty McFly-inspired Nike Kobe 6 PE. This colorway has become extremely popular since the launch of the Nike Air Mag and has appeared on other Nike releases.

However, we have never seen this colorway used exclusively on Kobe shoes for players. A neutral gray upper is highlighted by white accents and a clean white speckled midsole. The outsole is a classic Back to the Future blue and we see Marty McFly rocking out on a hoverboard. Hands down, these are probably the cleanest sneakers we’ve seen this week.

James Harden’s adidas Harden Vol. 8 vs. Mavericks

The new lineup passed a major test with a double-digit win as the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, November 25, 2023. It won’t be easy for them to find a new rhythm with James Harden in the lineup, but their win against Dallas proved they can still compete with the best teams in the West on any night.

James Harden scored 8 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists in the victory. He also showed off his latest Adidas Harden Vol. 8 sneaker, which remains one of the most unique models we’ve seen in the game today. They come dressed in a bright “Flamingo” colorway with hot pink and bright orange covering the entire pair. The shoe was very noticeable on the broadcast, and it was clear that Harden shone in his shoes that night.

BONUS: Scott Foster’s “Triple Black” HOKA Bondi 8 vs. Chris Paul

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the ongoing feud between Warriors player Chris Paul and longtime NBA referee Scott Foster. The two have a history that goes back nearly 20 years, and we’ve never seen as much animosity between players and referees as there is between these two. During the first half of the Warriors’ game against the Suns, Foster and Paul’s words unsurprisingly reached a boiling point.

After the melee, Paul’s former Suns teammate Mikal Bridges poked fun at the situation on Twitter. The HOKA Bondi 8 model worn by Scott Foster comes in the infamous “Triple Black” or “Referee” colorway. It’s a shame that these shoes get a bad rap because they are so comfortable and great for running. However, in the NBA, no one is safe from trolls, and if you want to gain viral attention, you’d better look good doing it.

That’s all we got in sneakers this past week. Did we miss your favorite? let us know!
