Brady Corbet finally begins work on his third film as a director. The title is The Brutalist and is written by Corbet and his creative (and life) partner Mona Fastvold. The film should have gone into production at the beginning of 2020, but Covid meant that it was postponed to a later date.

A delay that also affected the composition of the cast. If initially, in fact, Joel Edgerton, Marion Cotillard, Mark Rylance, Sebastian Stan, Vanessa Kirby, Raffey Cassidy, Isaach De Bankolé, Alessandro Nivola and Stacy Martin were supposed to be from the match, now the names have changed, but no less prestigious.
Adrien Brody, Guy Pierce and Felicity Jones are now the protagonists of this story that tells 30 years of the life of László Toth, a European architect who moved to the United States immediately after the war with his wife Erszebet, both in search of success. László initially endures poverty and indignity, but his genius seems to be recognized by the industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren, who offers László and his family the American dream on a silver platter, commissioning him to design a great modernist monument and contribute to shape the landscape of the country. It will be the most ambitious project of their careers, taking László and Erzsébet to monumental heights and devastating depths.
The Brutalist tells the uncompromising vision of an artist and the reconstruction of a nation by a generation of immigrants. But above all it is the powerful love story of a couple who must fight to protect themselves from a patron whose dark influence threatens to destroy everything they have built.
The previous two directorial films by Corbet (who, we recall, was also a talented young actor, playing the remake of funny games by Michael Haneke alongside Michael Pitt) are The childhood of a boss And Vox Luxstarring Natalie Portman and which was in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
