Beyoncé and Jay-Z bought a new $200 million mansion in Malibu, California. But this is not news. The internet is wondering where the house is that’s worth that price since they only see the “warehouse” in the aerial photos Jared Jared shared. The report states that the more than 40,000-square-foot mansion was previously owned by art collector William Bell, who bought it back in 2003 for $14.5 million but ended up designing the interiors for the next 15 years.
However, photographs from inside the mansion are not available as the report only provides a detailed aerial view. The $200 million purchase of Beyoncé and Jay-Z is considered the largest in the history of the state of California. The mansion was actually listed for sale at $295 million, but was ultimately sold at a lower price.
Reaction to Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s booty
When X (formerly Twitter) user Beyoncé Press shared photos of the mansion on the microblogging site, the Internet couldn’t help but joke that it looked like a warehouse.
One user commented: “I imagine there’s a huge bunker underneath, ready for the apocalypse lol.” Another sarcastically wrote: “Wow. Congratulations to them.” “Thought it was a warehouse (holding back tears emoji),” said a third. The user joked that they wanted Architecture Digest to stop by the house and give us “real architectural tea.”
Many others drew some pretty interesting parallels to what the mansion looked like. “Where is home? Looks like a YMCA,” one wrote. Another commented: “They look like airports.” “This looks like something I built in Minecraft about 4 years ago,” read another hilarious comment. Other comparisons included “home of the GTA,” “Walmart distribution center atmosphere.”
One tweet summed it up well: “This is a prime example of ‘just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.’
