The Lady Vols lost to Texas A&M 4-3.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee. – Junior Jordan Fusco scored a hat trick on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Aggies as UT fell 4-3 at Regal Stadium.

sophomore Makaira Midgleyredshirt sophomore Jenna Steyaert and the elder in a red shirt Mary Nelson earned an assist for Tennessee (7-5-4, 2-4-3 SEC). Redshirt Freshman Abby Reis started in goal, collecting five saves. Redshirt Sophomore Ellie Zazzara took over in the second half and made two saves.

Texas A&M (8-6-3, 4-3-2 SEC) was led by Jazmine Wilkinson, who scored three goals. Sidney Becerra also scored for the Aggies. In goal, Kenna Caldwell made four saves.

Tennessee got on the field early when Midgley found Fusco breaking through the defense in the fifth minute. Fusco took a shot into the penalty area and curled the ball into the far post.

Texas A&M tied the game four minutes later when Wilkinson deflected the ball from Reisch and deflected a shot from the far side of the box off the goal post and into the net.

Becerra gave the Aggies the lead in the 12th.th minute, beating a defender at the top of the penalty area and firing a shot into the far goal.

In the 31st minute, Mia Pante burst into the UT penalty area and fired a shot on frame, but Reis made a diving save.

Fusco tried to tie the game in the final 30 seconds of the half with a shot from 20 yards out, but the attempt was blocked by an Aggie defender and the score remained 2–1 until halftime.

The Lady Vols came out strong in the second half, gaining possession and driving to the Aggie baseline where Nelson sent a cross into the box that Fusco sent into the net with a jump shot just 13 seconds into the half.

Two and a half minutes later, Fusco struck again from a pass from Steyaert, receiving the ball near the penalty spot and firing it past the goalkeeper.

Mahia McDonald struck from close range in the 59th round.th minute, but Zazzara shot wide of the goal to preserve the Lady Vol lead.

Wilkinson tied it at three with a round of 77.th minute, poking the ball, which bounced from the penalty area, into the net from 10 yards.

She struck again 50 seconds later to score the final goal of the match, heading just wide of the post from Sam Smith’s cross.

NEXT: The Lady Vols will travel to Vanderbilt for the state meet on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CT.
