The Ministry of Health informed that the “Vicente Guerrero” Regional General Hospital 1 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the “El Quemado” IMSS-Bienestar General Hospital in Acapulco, the “Renacimiento” IMSS-Bienestar General Hospital and the National Staff Safety and Institutes of Social Services (Issste), both at federal level, provide care for patients requiring emergency services or professional consultations.

Forty-five medical teams were deployed across Acapulco, 28 of them fixed and the remainder mobile, to cover the most affected areas. Additionally, their locations are reported via loudspeakers and official networks.

Level 1 units, such as medical teams, have the personnel and supplies to care for patients with diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol or triglycerides, tuberculosis, prenatal care and emergencies.

At the same time, testing for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), syphilis, and hepatitis C will continue to be available; and condoms, lubricants, and morning-after pills will be provided.

People must be reminded that if they have chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, tuberculosis, HIV or hepatitis, it is necessary to continue treatment to avoid complications. Those in need can go to the nearest nursing unit to refill their medication.

In this context, for first-level care, all IMSS Family Medicine Units (UMF) are functioning normally as planned; 26 centers of the Ministry of Health and 7 Family Medicine Units of the ISSSTE. In the coming days, the remaining health centers will become operational.

The goal is to provide care to everyone, regardless of their rights.

People are asked to remember that if they have fever, breathing pain, shortness of breath, chest pain, more than six episodes of diarrhea or mucus or blood, dehydration, sunken eyes, no tears, abdominal pain, drowsiness, or a wound that needs healing, they need to go to the nearest hospital immediately. Medical institutions.

Infants, girls, boys, pregnant women, elderly people, disabled people must receive special care and ensure continuous monitoring of their health.

In this winter of influenza and COVID-19 epidemics, vaccination is necessary, especially for people in vulnerable groups.

Likewise, hand hygiene must be maintained; in these times when access to water may be complicated, the alternative is alcohol gel.
