This story from the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premiere really shows how great fans of Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter are.

Although Peggy Carter existed in Marvel comics before the release Captain America: The First AvengerHayley Atwell’s performance as the character in this 2011 film and throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe catapulted her to new heights of popularity. Even though the main version of Peggy in the MCU died off-screen in Captain America: Civil WarAtwell has portrayed other versions of the character in film and television, and after all this time, her fan following continues to be amazing. This was demonstrated last year at the world premiere of the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness28th MCU film.

In an interview with LRM Online Multiverse of Madness Costume designer Graham Churchard recalled seeing fans come to the premiere dressed as Captain Carter, the Earth-838 version of Peggy who had been injected with the super-soldier serum in place of Steve Rogers. As Churchard explained:

You think the world is watching you. When you create something, especially in this subgenre, you think, “Are people going to cosplay this?” You know, I want them to feel the way they want to feel.
