Calderon-Avalos added that respiratory illnesses increase among this population this time of year, necessitating seasonal flu vaccination to boost the immune system and avoid complications such as pneumonia or bronchitis.

Finally, he said that at this time, the elderly are prone to experiencing depressive moments, so they are advised to enjoy company and avoid prolonged isolation.
