The traditional “Corso de las flores” event to welcome spring will take place this Saturday, September 23, at 2:00 pm in Caballero Park in Asuncion, under the name “Spring in the Park”. Music, markets, food and more are expected to entertain the public.

The iconic Caballero Park will be filled with color and joy with a float parade involving families, schools, sports groups, cyclists, conservatories, stilt walkers and acrobats.

The show was attended by the Abuelitos del Hogar Santo Domingo, the Vicepresidente Sánchez School and the Escuela Elisa Alicia Lynch School, the Yorkshire Dog Group, the Polki Squad, the cycling team “Jaha Múndore” and the “Residentas Bikers”.

There are also Sonidos de la Chacarita Music School and Waren Archery Academy, as well as families and people participating in the event.

The “Spring in the Park” event will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will feature an Entrepreneurs’ Fair with the participation of the Chacarita Entrepreneurs Association and Nación Compos, the sale of Polki Squad canine costumes, and the launch of art projects including a land art competition, An exhibition of native species at the municipal nursery and an archery show at the Varun Archery Range for the little ones in the park.

The Los Angeles Titans football academy and Caballero Park basketball team will have food booths to raise funds for their practices and games.

The Mandu’ara Association will present a historical figure representing María Concepción Díaz de Viva, owner of the site formerly known as “Quinta Caballero”, who will share anecdotes from that time.

Pets are welcome and owners are asked to keep dogs on a leash at all times.

Visit and participate

Guided tours of the Bernardino Caballero Museum are available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, as they are every Saturday. Admission to the museum is free.

To participate in the “Corso de las Flores” visitors/participants may enter with bicycles, skates, dogs, clothing and spring decorations.

The park’s main portico, located on Gondra and Andrés Barbero streets, is accessible to pedestrians and bicycles. Access and parking for private vehicles is planned through a porte-cochere located next to the police station on Artigas Avenue.

The Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) will provide support in organizing traffic.

This event is promoted by the Association of Friends of Caballero Park in Asunción, through the Bureau of Green Spaces, the Bureau of the Historic Center of Asunción; and the Ministry of Urban Planning, Housing and Habitat (MUVH).

It is also supported by the Viva El Parque Caballero project! Funded by the AECID/Juan de Salazar Cultural Center, with the support of the National Secretariat of Culture and private companies such as Copipunto, Café Mayo and Fundación Itaú.
