Tom Brady is getting the biopic treatment.
Gotham Group is developing a scripted limited series called “The Patriot Way,” which will follow the quarterback’s rise from an NFL sixth-round draft pick to a global superstar who led the New England Patriots to nine NBA championships. The story of winning six Super Bowls. It will also cover Aaron Hernandez, the Spygate and Deflategate controversies and Brady’s conflict with head coach Bill Belichick.
Paul Tamasi and Eric Johnson will write “The Patriot Way,” based on the 2018 book “12: Tom Brady’s Redemption” by sportswriters Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge. The inside story of the battle.”
Alan Goldsmith Venn will produce the series on behalf of Gotham Group.
Tamasi and Johnson are best known for their work as screenwriters and for the Scott Silver biopic “The Fighter,” which was directed by David O. Russel ) directed by Mark Wahlberg in 2018 as boxer Micky Ward. The two have previously collaborated on Patriots Day (2016), in which Wahlberg played a police officer involved in the Boston Marathon bombing; and The Finest Days (also 2016), a film starring Thriller directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Casey Affleck and Chris Pine; 2020’s The Outpost is based on the book of the same name by Jake Tapper about Afghanistan The Battle of Khandesh in the war.
Goldsmith-Vine is the founder and CEO of Gotham Group. Her notable credits as a producer include the Maze Runner movies, Stargirl movies and Netflix’s Wendell and the Wild, as well as the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Gods of Olympus on Disney+ series.
