The famous novel by Louisa May Alcott returns to the big screen – for the seventh time – in the new version written and directed by Greta Gerwig. The story is that of the timeless life of the March sisters, four young and determined women who chase their dreams and face the typical problems of their age, at the time of the American Civil War. Standing out among the four sisters is Jo, independent, stubborn and in search of freedom. Jo is a complete contrast to the stereotype of the woman of her time and is determined to establish herself as a writer, a dream for which she is willing to do anything. With her temperament, the young woman not only tries to fulfill herself, but she also tries to encourage her sisters to do the same and to pursue their desires. Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth March, are played respectively by Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pughand Eliza Scanlenstarring Timothee Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March. Six Oscar nominations, a statuette for costumes designed by Jacqueline Durran.
