Lady Bird was released in Italy on March 1, 2018 by Universal Pictures. It previously screened at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2017 and at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8 of that year.
Saoirse Ronan worked in the theater before starring in this film, and due to heavy makeup combined with bright stage lights, she developed acne. Makeup artist Jacqueline Knowlton and Ronan convinced Greta Gerwig not to cover it to make this movie stand out from most other teen dramas full of perfect-skinned boys. Gerwig agreed with them.
