Ohio has reported 142 cases
United States, December 1, 2023. – Global health officials are monitoring outbreaks of bacterial pneumonia in the United States originating from China and Europe.
The outbreak, a strain of pneumonia now known as white lung syndrome, has infected children in China, Denmark and the Netherlands, mainly between the ages of three and eight. Ohio was the first state to report the disease, with 142 cases recorded.
The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) told a House committee that the infections appear to be common bacteria and viruses found everywhere.
“Of course, we were all concerned after the outbreak, we heard about the outbreak in China. We heard about the outbreak elsewhere. At this time, we don’t think that is the case,” said Centivax founder and CEO Jacob Glanville. ”
The California Department of Public Health has contacted Rady Children’s Hospital for information about the emerging virus.
The hospital’s medical director of infectious diseases said they have not treated white lung syndrome this year despite a sharp increase in visits.

This holiday, he said, it’s best to avoid states and countries with high infection rates associated with white lung syndrome and do everything possible to limit the number of infections so as not to overwhelm medical facilities.
