The Government of Extremadura has started vaccination campaigns against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 to protect the most vulnerable. The scheme will run until January 31, 2024 and as an innovation, children under five years of age and smokers are also included in the process.

Who must be vaccinated in Extremadura?
The Government of Extremadura recommends vaccination for the following groups of people:
- People over 60, people in centers and residences for people with disabilities, people in long-term institutions and residents of closed institutions.
- People under 60 with medical conditions that increase their risk of getting the flu or coronavirus.
- Pregnant women during any trimester of pregnancy and during the postpartum period (up to 6 months postpartum) who were not vaccinated during pregnancy.

The military government of Extremadura explained that “based on scientific evidence and new recommendations from health authorities”, starting this year, COVID-19 vaccinations will be carried out seasonally “in conjunction with influenza during the period of greatest virus transmission each year” Vaccination.
