The execution of the death sentence came after failed attempts to convince relatives to forgive him, and Haitham asked to pray two rak’ahs at the execution site before the sentence was carried out.

Haitham’s case dominated social media platforms in Yemen as information circulated about the unjust punishment against him.

Media reported that Haitham Al-Adani worked for an Omani trader in Al-Mahra. The merchant wanted to marry his sister informally, and when the family refused, the merchant threatened Haitham to expose him with video clips he filmed. sexually violating him. The young man remembered having fainted due to an illness while working. The trader took advantage of his loss of consciousness to attack him and, when he told his brother what had happened, he asked him to lure the trader to beat him, take the phone and delete the video clips. When they met the trader, Haitham’s brother stabbed him several times and fled, while Haitham smashed the phone and tried to save the trader and take him to hospital, but he died. Haitham was arrested and his fugitive brother joined Al-Qaeda.
