Coinciding with the fierce battles that have been ongoing since October 7, a different kind of war is taking place between Israel and Hamas.

Over the past 4 weeks, both sides have focused on “propaganda” and information warfare, as many observers have pointed out.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, continuously broadcast promotional videos of its military operations against the Israeli army.

Israeli alert

In turn, Israeli forces have adopted the same method, with greater intensity, recruiting all their official accounts on social networking sites to broadcast videos from the heart of the fighting in Gaza.

Yesterday, both sides broadcast video clips of what they described as violent clashes in the Gaza Strip.

Insults and offensive words

These videos were accompanied, on many occasions, by Israel with obscene expressions directed at Hamas members, sometimes describing them as animals and sometimes as dogs, as well as naming ISIS, which it has adopted since the beginning of the war.

Last night Ofir Gendelman, the Israeli prime minister’s spokesperson for the Arab world, shared a video in which he showed dogs released by Israeli forces inside some Hamas tunnels in Gaza, commenting with insults.

Commenting on the video, he wrote: “Dogs chase Hamas dogs, until victory,” as he put it.

While some analysts believe that giving such general characteristics to opponents during wars aims to reduce their “humanization” and thus justify wounding and killing them in large numbers.

This latest round of war between Israel and the Palestinian factions has further demonstrated that the Israeli government and its army have a public relations operation that is considered one of the strongest in the world.

Especially since Israel has been accustomed for years to the campaigns of criticism it faces globally due to its policy against the Palestinians.

In this context, Sky News’ chief correspondent, Stuart Ramsay, confirmed in a recently published analysis that both sides (Israel and Hamas) realize that information messages in this war are essential!
