So says Cork native Fiona Shaw in a thrilling teaser for the new season of HBO and Sky Atlantic anthology series True Detective.
Season four will star Oscar winner Jodie Foster in the lead role, as well as former boxer and rising actress Kali Reyes as detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reyes).
Meanwhile, Irish actress Shaw, who many will recognize from the Harry Potter films, Killing Eve, Fleabag and Andor, plays Rose Agino, “a survivalist with a past full of secrets,” opposite John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone). ) and Christopher Eccleston. True Detective: Nightland takes place in the cold, subzero town of Ennis, Alaska, where eight men running the Tsalal Arctic research station suddenly disappear without a trace.
According to the official plot synopsis, the two female detectives, who are naturally not fans of each other, will have to “face the darkness they carry within themselves and unearth the shadowy truths that lie buried beneath the eternal ice” to solve problem. a seemingly insoluble case.
Season four premieres on Monday 15 January on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW, with episodes available weekly at the same times as in the US (2am Irish and UK time).

Speaking about the rise in quality TV and film roles for older women, Shaw said: “It’s a nice moment… what’s happening in TV now means there’s more to play.
“There are audiences of both genders who want to watch women, especially older women, in things.
“If anything, I feel more enthusiastic than I have in a long time. I am so excited”.
In the first season of True Detective in 2014, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson played a Louisiana law enforcement duo. The series received rave reviews from critics and also became a hit with audiences around the world.
The second series, set in California, featured Irish actor Colin Farrell and American stars Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn. It received a mixed response from critics, although the cast was praised for their performances.
With its third True Detective film starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, the anthology series received renewed acclaim, with Ali receiving an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of an Arkansas State Police detective.
