He was celebrating on Saturday after finally picking up his first point in the Championship after three consecutive defeats.

Rooney rose to prominence at Everton as a 16-year-old before moving to Old Trafford in 2004.

He went on to become United’s and England’s all-time top scorer, with the latter’s record now surpassed by Harry Kane as he won every honor under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney returned to Everton for one season in 2017 before ending his playing career in the United States with spells at D.C. United and Derby County before beginning his coaching career.

This week he appears on a new seven-part podcast hosted by rugby league legend Rob Burrow called Seven: Rob Burrow BBC series, the former Leeds Rhinos ace poses seven questions to a range of sporting icons.

One of the questions Burrows asked was who were Rooney’s best and worst team-mates during his career – and both were former Manchester United colleagues.

“Best team-mate, I’d probably say Darren Fletcher,” Rooney declared.

The former Scotland international midfielder, who is currently United’s technical director, played alongside Rooney before joining West Brom in 2015.

He ended his career at Stoke City and hung up his boots in 2019.

Rooney then added: “My worst teammates, more than you think!

“On the pitch, the hardest one to play against is Nani. “It’s frustrating to play with him. “

The 36-year-old Portuguese international Nani is still playing for Turkish club Adana Demirspor.

After joining Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2015, he spent eight years at Manchester United, winning four Premier League titles and the Champions League among many other honours.
