Weeks after GOAT becomes minority owner, Las Vegas Aces win WNBA title, NFL fans cheer ‘Tom Brady effect’

TOM Brady remains a serial winner, even after retiring from the NFL.

The 46-year-old seven-time Super Bowl champion is a minority owner of the WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces.

Two weeks ago, the WNBA passed Brady on partial ownership of the organization.

News of his investment was first reported in March and officially confirmed on October 2.

Weeks later, the Aces won their second consecutive WNBA championship, and fans jokingly referred to the “Brady effect.”

The Aces clinched the championship with a dramatic 70-69 victory over the New York Liberty at Barclays Center on Wednesday.

This cemented a 3-1 victory in the WNBA Finals series, and the Aces joined the Houston Comets and Los Angeles Sparks as the only teams to win multiple championships in a row.

Team owner Mark Davis (who also owns the Las Vegas Raiders) danced with joy on the court in Brooklyn after the comeback win.

One fan commented on X (formerly Twitter): “This is truly the Brady effect, man is a walking legend.”

Another netizen said: “October 2: Tom Brady is officially approved as the owner of the Las Vegas Aces. October 18: Las Vegas wins the WNBA championship. Tom Brady will continue Win.”

A third added: “The team and performance deserved the title.”

Trailing by 12 points at one point, the Aces fought back with 24 points and 16 rebounds from Finals MVP A’ja Wilson.

Since retiring in February, Brady has struggled to make savvy business deals in the sports world.

In addition to the Aces, he also applied to invest in the Raiders and is now a part-owner of English football club Birmingham City.

The three-time NFL MVP signed a $375 million, 10-year contract with Fox Sports last summer.

The former Patriots player will be in the dugout for the 2024 NFL season.

Brady said after investing in the Aces: “I’m excited to be a part of the Las Vegas Aces.

“My love for women’s sports started at a young age when I would follow my sisters to all the games.

“They are by far the best athletes in our family! We celebrate their accomplishments as a family and they remain a huge inspiration to me.

“I have always been a huge fan of women’s sports and admire the work the Aces players, staff and WNBA continue to do to grow the game and empower the next generation of athletes.

“As a member of the Aces organization, it is an incredible honor to be able to contribute in any way to this mission.”
