Asteroid City Of Wes Anderson could in all likelihood be presented at the Cannes Film Festival. However, nothing official from the festival or the Focus Feature has been announced yet.

The film promises to be very funny, and Anderson rarely goes wrong with comedy. The cast of Asteroid City includes Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda SwintonJason Schwartzman, Jeffrey Wright, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophia Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum And Rita Wilson. Cameos for the musicians have also been announced Seu Jorge And Jarvis Cocker who will play cowboys, but it remains to be seen if they survive the editing.

Set in a fictional American desert city around 1955, the film tells of a bizarre encounter. Here’s what the official synopsis of the film reads: “The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from all over the country for scholarships and academic competition) is spectacularly upended by events capable of changing the order of the world.”

Anderson wrote Asteroid City with Roman Coppola which is produced by the regular partners Steven Rales And Jeremy Dawson. Focus has set the US release for June 16, and the trailer for the film arrives tomorrow.

Anderson was previously at Coisette with The French Dispatch And Moonrise Kingdomboth in competition. Among the films expected to be screened at Cannes this year are Killers Of The Flower Moon Of Martin Scorsese And Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny of Disney. The official selection will be unveiled next month.
