Julian Edelman and the Patriots face a lot of challenges heading into Super Bowl 49.

A win over the mighty Seahawks would give Tom Brady his fourth championship after a decade-long championship drought and Edelman’s first.

But in the anticipated matchup between New England and Seattle, a sports legend also has a major payday pending.

This week, the former Patriots wideout recalled Arizona’s Super Bowl 49 in a chat with comedian Bert Kreischer on Edelman’s own “Games With Names” podcast The story of an election meeting held over dinner that week.

While out with his parents, Edelman met Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan. Even though Edelman was a reliable slot receiver for Brady, he admitted he felt “starstruck” when meeting the two sports icons.

Jordan, known for his penchant for big bets, had some ominous advice for Edelman after learning he would be playing the Seahawks in the coming days.

“I went up there and you could tell Jeter was a very charismatic guy, very passionate,” Edelman told Kreischer. “I go, ‘Mr. Jeter, Julian Edelman. I’m at the Super Bowl,'” and I see Jordan. He’s kind of standoffish. The conversation is coming to an end — about five minutes in — and I’m about to Leaving, Jordan came towards me.

He said, ‘Hey, kid. I got a bunch of money on you, don’t (expletive) it. That was the only thing he said to me. I said, “Yes, sir, Mr. Jordan.” “I don’t know what to say.”
