what is she going to write

Serena Williams is ready to tell her life story.

The history-making tennis star plans to write two books, a memoir and an inspirational book, according to Random House, which plans to publish two books.

“For too long, I was solely focused on winning and never sat down to look back and reflect on my life and career,” Williams, 42, said in a statement shared by Random House. “In the past, I was solely focused on winning. I’ve really enjoyed spending time with my growing family celebrating my accomplishments and exploring my other passions throughout the year. I’m in a more perfect place to be able to take on such a personal and intimate project, with Random House I’d rather do this with anyone than a team.”

Williams retired from professional tennis in 2022 after a record-breaking career that included four Olympic gold medals and 23 Grand Slam singles titles.

In August, Williams gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Adira River Ohanian. Williams also has a 6-year-old daughter, Olympia, with husband Alexis Ohanian.

Williams’ memoir will detail the births of her two children, her relationship with Ohanian and her journey from growing up in Compton, Calif., to reaching the top of tennis, Random House reports.

Her second inspirational book will share the tennis star’s “rules for life.”

“In her inspiring second book, Williams will draw on her experience as a philanthropist and advocate, her career as a unicorn investor at Serena Ventures, and her long-standing commitment to elevating Diverse and emerging generations of young people are provided with rules for life. Women’s aspirations are not limited to the courtroom,” Random House said in a statement. “Both books will be governed by an unwavering belief in perseverance, overcoming adversity and the power of unabashed dreams.”
