After winning the League Cup on penalties (10-9), Inter Miami and Messi are on track to win three trophies this season.
On July 21, Messi made his debut for Inter Miami in the first game of the League Cup group stage against Azul. He came on as a substitute in the 54th minute and scored from a free kick in stoppage time to win the game for his new team.

In the MLS Cup, he made his debut against the New York Red Bulls on August 26 and became the key to ending Miami’s 11-game league winless streak. His goal in the 89th minute gave his team a well-deserved 2-0 victory after coming off the bench in the 60th minute.
On September 16, Messi missed his first game since joining in July, when Inter Miami lost 2-5 to Atlanta United.
