The young actress of Cuban origin, Ana de Armas, already known by the general public for her role as agent Paloma in the latest James Bond film with Daniel Craig, namely 007 No time to diebut became famous for her portrayal of Marylin Monroe in the film produced by Netflix, Blondeseems to be involved in the project of El Muerto according to some rumors.
The actress, though Blonde was not appreciated by critics and won the Razzie Award for worst film of the yearwas instead acclaimed for her performance in the role of the blonde cinema icon, so much so that she obtained a nomination for the 2023 Oscars for Best Actress, a statuette later won by actress Michelle Yeoh in Everything, Everywhere all at once.
Who is El muerto?
As we have seen in recent years with the films about Venom (Tom Hardy) and Morbius (Jared Leto), Sony has decided to produce Spiderman spin-offs, dedicating himself to the spider-man villains. El Muerto will be interpreted by the singer-songwriter rapper Bad Bunny, stage name of Benito Antonio MartÃnez Ocasio.
The character agrees with J.Jonah Jameson to defeat Spider-man and that’s why he becomes his enemy. El Muerto is a Mexican wrestler in possession of a magical mask that gives him power.
Returning to Ana de Armas, we still don’t know the role she will play but only that she will be, according to some rumors, the female counterpart of the protagonist. Spider-man villain movies, even though they did good numbers at the box office, were scuttled by critics. Considering that Blonde was considered bad, even if De Armas proved good, perhaps being part of the Spider-man spin-offs is not a good idea if you want to maintain a certain reputation. We’ll see.
The El Muerto film, branded Sony, should arrive in theaters in January 2024.
