Cristiano Ronaldo’s international run isn’t over yet, and he and his Portugal teammates are preparing for another set of European Cup qualifiers.
Portugal have all but secured their place at Euro 2024 in Germany with six wins from six Group J matches ahead of upcoming matches against Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They beat Luxembourg 9-0 in their most recent qualifier, but Ronaldo did not play in that game due to suspension.
But what about the next game? Does men’s international football’s leading scorer have a chance to extend his record? Sporting News explains.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo play for Portugal against Slovakia?
The short answer is yes, probably. Roberto Martinez has called up Ronaldo to a star-studded squad for this international break with the aim of rubber-stamping qualification.
Ronaldo will almost certainly wear the captain’s armband against Slovakia as he looks to score his 124th goal in a Portugal shirt after missing the last time out due to suspension. He is fit and in hot form and has recently returned to form with Saudi Professional League club Al Nassr, scoring 10 league goals in the 2023/24 season.
Slovakia will be hard-pressed to stop him, especially with the likes of Bruno Fernandez, Rafael Leao and Bernardo Silva likely to start behind Porto’s centre-forward.
