Will Smith talks to Michael B. Jordan about ‘I Am Legend’ sequel: We’re really close, the script just came out

We previously reported that actors Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan will star in and produce the sequel to Smith’s 2007 film I am a legend. Now, Smith has revealed that the project is in the final stages of scripting.

according to typeThe upcoming sequel is based on the alternate ending of the 2007 apocalyptic sci-fi film released on DVD, rather than the ending in which Smith’s character dies in the theatrical version.

“I’m on the phone with Michael B. Jordan tomorrow. We’re very close and the script just came out,” Smith said at the third Red Sea Film Festival.

“You have to be a real I am a legend I’d love to know this, but in the first theatrical version, my character dies, but on the DVD, there’s another version of the ending of my character’s life. We will discuss the DVD version of Mythology. I can’t tell you much more, but Michael B. Jordan is in it,” he added.

Akiva Goldsman, the Oscar-winning writer who adapted Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel into the original 2007 film, will also co-write the sequel.

Goldsman will also serve as a producer on the project alongside Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo of Outlier Society, Smith and Westbrook Studios co-president/film executive Jon Mone.
