Can you imagine sitting for four hours just to do your makeup? Zoe Saldana needs no introduction—she’s been there.
As the curtain approaches Zoe Saldana in the MCU after Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, The actress who brought Gamora to life doesn’t hold back and shares her journey as Gamora with Direct. After deleting her green and moody alter ego, Saldana expressed a lot of emotion about parting ways with her iconic character Gamora.
But one thing will not be missed.
“(…) I’ll miss Gamora, but I won’t miss four hours of makeup.”
Yeah… None of us blame you for feeling that way, girl. I can’t sit still for longer than it takes to write an article—I don’t have the patience or discipline to sit in a chair while people work on you for four hours.
Remembering Gamora
Ending her 10-year run as Gamora is a very bittersweet moment for both the actress and her fans. Although she claims to have felt “stuck in franchises,” her contributions to the Marvel and Avatar franchises are vast and influential. And of course, Gunn’s admission that she was his dream Gamora only reinforces that feeling.

Saldana’s journey as Gamora has been nothing short of extraordinary, filled with emotion, action and a huge fan following. Her character has not only become an integral part of her legacy, but also a favorite of her three little boys, who have become devoted fans of the Marvel Universe and, of course, their mom.
“It makes me feel really good. It makes me feel lucky,” she said about how lucky she is to work with people she deeply respects in the same universe. Her gratitude towards director James Gunn is expressed by thanking him for his unwavering belief in her potential.
But as she bids farewell to Gamora, we can all tell that the lengthy makeup process won’t be on her list of cherished memories, and even though Saldana is retiring, her hope is shining bright that Gamora will continue to inspire and excite fans after she leaves the role. Even though she initially signed on for one film, ten years later she leaves with a heart full of grace and gratitude.
As Saldana hangs up her boots, curiosity is building among fans about the future of their favorite character, Gamora. It’s closure for now for Zoe Saldana, who walks away from the Marvel Universe with a heart full of cherished memories, happily leaving behind her not-so-loved makeup chair.
Saldana says she’s moving forward with “so much grace and gratitude in her heart,” and the world is eagerly watching the next chapter unfold for both the actress and Gamora herself.
