21-year-old Michael Jordan once bought 7 cars in one day, but in the end he only kept a black Mercedes-Benz

Michael Jordan bought seven cars after signing with the Chicago Bulls in 1984, but kept just one black Mercedes. Jordan was 21 when the Bulls drafted him third overall that year out of North Carolina.

In 2017, Dallas trial attorney Don Godwin shared the story of how his father, Lewis, sold seven cars to young MJ in an interview with D Magazine. Lewis worked at a car dealership in Jordan’s hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina.

“Michael said, ‘I want to buy seven cars,'” Don said. “‘You see that big black four-door Mercedes? That’s my car.

“I wish my mom had a little Mercedes, I wish my dad had a Mercedes. I wish my grandma had a big Pontiac Bonneville, and my brothers and sisters could have one. Cars—Firebird Trans Ams, beautiful Pontiacs.”

Lewis Godwin was shocked that Michael Jordan bought a car for himself and his family. Godwin knew how quickly athletes spent their money and tried to convince Jordan to consider his purchase.

However, the future Chicago Bulls legend is confident in his chances of making it big in the NBA. He also wanted to repay Godwin for his efforts in helping his father when he was growing up.

“My dad went back to Michael and told him he didn’t mean any disrespect,” Don Godwin said.

“He just wanted to make sure the family was happy with everything, and Michael said, ‘I understand, Mr. Lewis. But I want you to get a great deal. I’m going to pay the window sticker price because you’re good friends with my parents.'” You can always make it happen when no one lends them money to buy a car. “

Don Godwin always remembered how his father sold seven cars to Michael Jordan, who wanted to repay him for everything he had done for his parents. This story taught him how to respect others because they will always remember you no matter what.
