The authorities reported that 35 people were killed and many homes were destroyed in the Rukum district in the 5.6-magnitude earthquake, whose epicenter was 42 kilometers south of the Jumla district in Nepal.
Authorities reported that 30 people were injured in Rukum and were taken to hospital in the area.
Authorities said 34 people died in Jajarkot district and search and rescue activities were continuing in the mountainous areas.
Officials stated that search and rescue teams in mountainous areas, along with villagers, recovered the bodies of the dead and wounded from collapsed homes, and confirmed that roads were closed and some villages were inaccessible due to landslides.
The authorities indicated that the death toll is expected to rise in the morning, noting that communications with many villages had been cut off.
Nepal’s National Seismological Monitoring and Research Center measured the magnitude of the quake at 6.4.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake measured 5.6 magnitude.
The Indian National Center for Seismology (NCS) said in its Facebook post that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.4 and a depth of 10 kilometers.
The Indian news agency ANI News reported that the tremors were also felt in the Indian national capital region of Delhi and some areas in the north of the country.
