Six Nike Air Jordan sneakers from Michael Jordan’s dynasty series sold for a record $8 million at Sotheby’s “The One” auction on Friday, with Jordan competing against the Chicago Bulls. Weared these shoes in six NBA championship games.
The bid became the second-highest price ever paid for a piece of Michael Jordan sports memorabilia, behind only Jordan’s 1998 NBA Finals Game 1 jersey from his famous “Last Dance” season, which sold at Sotheby’s in September 2022 Sold for $10.1 million.
Various Air Jordan sneakers signed by Jordan were worn during the Bulls’ 1991 game against the Los Angeles Lakers, 1992 against the Portland Trail Blazers, 1993 against the Phoenix Suns, and 1996 against the Seattle SuperSonics Worn during a game against the Seattle SuperSonics in 1997. The six pairs of shoes in sizes 13 and 13.5 were originally given by Jordan to Tim Hallam, the Bulls’ former public relations director. After selling the shoes to an anonymous buyer, they were sold to Sotheby’s.

Sotheby’s also holds the sneaker auction record, with Michael Jordan’s famous “Last Dance” Air Jordan 13 from Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals selling for $2.2 million in April 2023 make a deal.
