Al-Marsad Newspaper: Law enforcement officials in the US state of Maine said that the suspect in the state’s mass shooting, Robert Card, began making statements that he heard voices and wanted to harm his fellow soldiers while serving service on a military base this summer and spent several weeks in the hospital.
But a relative of the suspect and two former Army Reserve teammates said they were unaware he had a long history of mental health problems, although one of his former teammates remembered him as a skilled sniper and a man who loved the outdoors and was according to the suspect one of the best marksmen in his unit, per CNN News.
Law enforcement officials said Robert R. Card II, 40, made troubling statements while at the Camp Smith training facility in New York, saying his command referred him to a military hospital and that he spent several weeks under evaluation.

Sources told the Sun Journal that he had mental health issues, including that he reported hearing strange noises and threatening to shoot himself while at the Saco military training base.
