This spooky season of A24 gives fans the opportunity to see their favorite indie horror classics once again on the big screen. The independent studio hits AMC theaters every Wednesday in October with A24 Presents: October Thrills & Chills Film Series.
Participating US AMC theaters will screen Robert Eggers’ The Witch on October 4, one of A24’s first horror films starring Anya Taylor Joy as an accused witch in Puritan times, Ti West’s slasher X starring Mia Goth on October 11, and Sci-fi -a fantastic hit. October 18 “Under the Skin” starring Scarlett Johansson. On October 25, AMC will also premiere a special director’s cut of fan-favorite Midsommar, director Ari Aster’s Wicker Man-esque film that follows troubled Dani, played by Florence Pugh, as she and her “friends” attend a strange denomination in rural Sweden. .
A24 have earned their place in the horror hall of fame with stellar releases over the next few years including 2022’s X, Pearl, Men and Bodies Bodies Bodies, as well as this year’s follow-up Talk To Me, the nightmarish debut from filmmaker brothers Danny and Michael Philippou. which critics call the best horror film of the year.
The studio’s next project is MaXXXine, the third and final installment in the X trilogy from director Ti West, following X and Pearl. The film stars Mia Goth as Maxine, who pursues her dream of becoming a famous actress in Los Angeles after a brush with death in a huge farmhouse. Although filming began earlier this year, there is no exact release date yet.
Don’t worry UK fans, although screenings will only be available at AMC cinemas in the US, you can stream X for free on Amazon Prime, as well as rent Midsommar, The Witch and Under the Skin.
