Hailing from the distant year 2099, O’Hara is a key figure in Spider-Man’s connection to the multiverse. And though his role is kept rather vague, just three months before the film’s release, the official Twitter account of the film revealed a closer look at the character’s design.

Here’s Spider-Man 2099’s epic suit in all its glory as he charges into battle against an unseen enemy. The superhero appears to be aboard a fast-moving object, perhaps a train, and is joined by a second hero who appears to be the Ghost-Spider (Hailee Steinfeld).

In the film’s trailer, Spider-Man 2099 holds a grudge against Miles Morales, thus bringing the character’s morality into question. The battle will be the highlight of the film, but the real antagonist will be Spot: the super-villain will be able to open interdimensional portals. Furthermore, his appearance suggests that he may be a greater threat, using the fallout from their rivalry to further his nefarious goals.

The film, directed by Joaquim Dos Santos (The Legend of Korra), Kemp Powers (Soul) and Justin K. Thompson (Star Wars: Clone Warsthe first part of Spider-Man: Into a New Universe) will be produced by Sony Pictures and distributed by Eagle Pictures.

Many questions remain open for fans of the saga. Miguel O’Hara and the other variants of Spider-Man will be able to mend their relationship in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse? We just have to find out… Not long now!
