John Wick is the film directed by David Leitch And Chad Stahelski which airs this evening at 21.21 on Italia 1. The film had the merit of bringing Keanu Reeves back to the general public, with a film that turned out to be only the first chapter of a real saga, whose fourth chapter – which as you read on MovieMag will have a duration of two hours and forty-nine minutes – it will arrive in cinemas on March 23rd.

John Wick, the plot

After losing his wife to an incurable disease, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) opens the door to the arrival of a beagle puppy named Daisy who represents the last gift of his great love. In fact, his wife wanted John Wick to remember the importance of loving even in the face of a broken heart. Some time later John and Daisy are accosted at a petrol station by three Russian men whose leader Iosef (Alfie Allen) wants to buy the man’s car, a 1969 Mustang. John, however, is adamant and walks away without knowing that he has angered Iosef and that he has come under his sights. That same night, in fact, the Russians break into the man’s house, hitting him until he loses consciousness and then stealing his car and, above all, killing Daisy. What Iosef doesn’t know, however, is that John Wick is a former assassin, a mercenary with a reputation that speaks for him and who worked for Iosef’s father, Viggo (Michael Nyqvist). The latter tries to mediate with John, seeking a peaceful solution. John, however, responds with the promise of death. At that point, a real war begins between the former assassin and the assassins sent by the Russian leader.

The difficult but extraordinary life of Keanu Reeves

When did the book come out Matthew Perry, Friends, lovers and the Terrible Thing, one of the elements that readers rave about most vehemently is a passage in which the actor “jokes” that Keanu Reeves is still alive and other talented people are not. The scandal that shocked readers is mainly related to how Keanu Reeves is perceived. The actor, notoriously kind to fans, could be a star of Hollywood in all respects, with sagas behind them that have revolutionized the history of cinema. Yet the actor of John Wick it has always remained very useful and, more importantly, has always been a huge source of inspiration. That’s because, despite his never wanting to address tragic aspects of his life publicly, Keanu Reeves has had a life that to call it difficult would be an understatement.

Born in Lebanon on September 2, 1964, Keanu Reeves immediately began to face obstacles bigger than him. When he was just three years old his father, as we read on mediumabandoned his family, while struggling with an addiction to heroin. Her mother worked as stripper and was the only adult caring for Keanu Reeves and his sister Kim. The family, now composed of only three members, then decided to leave Lebanon for Australia, before arriving in the United States and, finally, in Toronto, where they remained on a permanent basis. During all this time, the actor’s mother married three times, leading the children to have no stability either in places or in people. For Keanu Reeves this meant facing adolescence with a sort of rejection of authority figures and with the abandonment of studies when he was still in high school. Always eager to become an actor, Keanu Reeves actually seemed inclined to pursue a career as a professional hockey player, but a bad knee injury prevented it.

After cutting his teeth in theater and appearing in many commercials, Reeves made his short film debut One Step Away, experience that then convinced him to move to Los Angeles and pursue a serious career as an actor. In the 90s his fame began to grow, also thanks to films such as Point Break, but it was in the same years that another tragedy reached him: his friend River Phoenix is found dead of an overdose outside the Viper Room, Johnny Depp’s club. Also, in 1992, the actor’s sister was diagnosed with leukemia which will push Keanu Reeves to invest heavily in cancer research. Meanwhile, his career continued to grow Speed with Sandra Bullock a The devil’s advocatewhere he co-starred with Charlize Theronuntil 1999 when he was chosen to play the protagonist of matrix. During this period the actor met Jennifer Syme, who seemed destined to become his one and only love. A year into their relationship Syme became pregnant and the two moved in together. However, the baby was born prematurely and unfortunately the doctors could do nothing to save the creature who was given the name of Ava Archer Syme-Reeves. The serious loss undermined the relationship between Reeves and Syme, to the point that the two decided to break up, although they decided to keep in touch. On April 2, 2001, as she was driving home from a party, Jennifer Syme lost control of her car and crashed into parked cars. She died instantly. In an interview reported by People Reeves said: “It’s not fair, it’s absurd. Grieving can change shape, but it never goes away. People buy this misconception that you can come to terms with grief and they’re like, ‘It’s gone. I’m better.’ , they’re wrong. When the people you love leave, you’re left alone.” And it was precisely the awareness of mourning and all its forms to push the actor to accept the role of John Wick after being away from the spotlight for a while, to also face a state of depression from which it also came out thanks to the support of the fans.
