Hayley Atwell, star of Mission Impossible: The Wage of Death Part One, describes a behind-the-scenes look at the climactic train scene at the end of the blockbuster. Atwell plays Grace in Death Wage Part One, a thief who helps Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the IMF. When a team comes together to track down a key that can stop a rogue AI, they must risk their lives to save the world. This includes the train scene at the end of “Mission: Impossible: The Wage of Death, Part One” in which Grace and Ethan jump between passenger cars in a death defy.
In an interview with Collider, Atwell explained what it was like to film the scene and its chilling nature. The scene called for several objects to be thrown into the air at the exact time the actor jumped off the collapsing platform. Atwell had to act out the scene correctly and barely had time to catch his breath during the process. Here is his quote:
“Without going into spoilers, she’s hanging, she’s on a vertical train that’s going over a ravine and the piano is about to fall over and it says ‘Jump’.” And this follows the moment when he has already jumped and says: “Jump.” It can be seen that he has adrenal fatigue, he knows that if he does not jump, he will die, but he also takes risks by jumping, because he may not be in time. And then there’s a moment that was improvised and Tom really enjoyed it and asked me to do it over and over again when he says, “Do you trust me?” The first time I did it, I just said, “Yeah?” And it was real, you know? I feel like I trust him, but at the time I didn’t know if Grace would trust him. It was a lot. And then, scene after scene, you have to jump into a train car, which is great. It’s a huge cylinder. It’s an empty ship, and I need to jump, and he takes me on one arm and holds all my weight when even the piano rushes past us. It was securely synchronized so I was given a signal when my platform started to break and that always scared me because I would lose my balance and then have to jump and I had no choice. I couldn’t decide at the time when to do it. You go and don’t think about it, and it always took my breath away.

Engaging in mind-blowing stunts is a rite of passage for Mission: Impossible stars, as the saga is known for its high-risk action scenes and breathtaking performances. Tom Cruise is known for immersing himself in filming and doing all his stunts. This means turning on the CGI from time to time to keep the film’s lead actor safe, but Mission: Impossible: Death Worth Part One still uses more practical effects than the CGI.
Conclusion Dead Reckoning Part One includes an extensive stunt sequence performed by Atwell and Cruise. For example, Ethan fights on top of a train, dangles precariously from a cliff, and jumps off a motorcycle in a BASE jump. These are memorable moments made all the more real by Cruise’s commitment to doing his own stunts, especially at the age of 61.
There is also a scene in the film where Ethan is able to drive with one hand, as his hand is chained to Grace’s. The same was true for Cruz, who worked tirelessly to prepare for the one-handed stunt. These spectacular sets hint at the commitment of Atwell, Cruise and the rest of the cast and crew to making Mission: Impossible: Death Worth Part One an exciting and emotional experience.
