The rarity of the 2005 Air Jordan 4 “Laser” pack seems to be increasing every year, with the remaining unsaleable models either being snatched up by collectors or mercilessly shattered by age. It’s truly time for Jumpman to revisit this memorable two-pair collection, something only Mark Smith himself highlighted, revealing a rare, unreleased version of the shoe he helped create.
During the heyday of the Swoosh laser era, Mark Smith applied this cutting-edge technology to some of the most popular shoes of all time. The laser-etched graphics were used primarily on the Air Jordan 20’s global release as an illustrative inlay to Michael Jordan’s legacy in the game of basketball and sneaker history. The Air Jordan 4 was chosen to be the epitome of retro style, releasing in an OG-inspired “Fire Red” as well as a second version that remixed the classic Chicago colorway.
The main difference between this Air Jordan 4 sample and the two retail versions is the thicker laser etching we’ve seen on the Mark Smith Laser Air Force 1 and even the Entourage model. Accompanying the shoes are a custom shoe box and matching tissues, made specifically for Michael Jordan, former Nike CEO Mark Parker and Mark Smith himself.
